Belliveau Motors Ford opened its doors first as JA Belliveau Motorcar Service Station in 1916 selling gasoline by the gallon.
After surviving the Great Depression and WWI the station became a Ford dealership and service station. The dealership employed up to 15 local people at any given time who lived within 2-3 KM of the shop, making it the main employer for the village. It remained fully operational for the next 45 years until 1988.
Now situated on a large lot on Evangeline Trail, Belliveau Motors Ford resides in a 16 000 Square Foot building with a beautiful country view. The following year Belliveau Motors Ford acquired Scott and Grace Ford in Digby which added another branch to the Belliveau Ford Family.
The first annual Belliveau Motors Ford 90th Anniversary Car Show is a massive success and begins the new tradition of summer community car shows at the dealership.
For the past 91 years, the dealership has been a pillar of the community having the honor of being part of nearly every family in the area whether by employing members of the community or by providing reliable and affordable transportation.
"The dealership has been central to the community for all its life as a major employer and contributor to the community. In Belliveau's Cove for the first 50 years of the location most of the employees were a couple of miles from the dealership. Around the 50th anniversary we employed 12-14 people and made it a big employer for a small community. There were less than 1000 people in the village at the time and to have up to 15 people employed in one location made it an important part of the community."
