Ford literally took us by surprise in 2016 with a new GT, designed not only to compete in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans but also as an absolutely insane road version. In fact, one could say the American manufacturer has taken performance seriously ever since.

Ford has developed numerous high-performance vehicles over the past few years, but the GT remains the ultimate machine. While all the road versions have already been delivered, production isn’t entirely finished, as some racing-oriented variants are still on the assembly line. And in case you didn’t know, the GT is assembled right here in Canada, making it something of a local pride.

January 2026

I strongly suggest marking your calendar for January 15, 2026, as Ford will make a monumental announcement on that date. To celebrate its entry into Formula 1 under the hood of a Red Bull Racing car, the American manufacturer has decided to launch an all-new road-legal race car.

Ford will unveil this high-level sports car on the sidelines of the Detroit International Auto Show. The company has placed heavy emphasis on clean fuel and electrification, which suggests that the next sports car will feature some form of electrified powertrain.

This new vehicle, about which almost nothing is known at this time, will be designed directly by Ford Racing, the performance division of the American automaker. One thing is certain: expectations are high for something that will surpass both the Ford GT and the Mustang GTD, two cars already boasting incredible performance.

We’ll have to be patient for more details, but January 15 promises to be a landmark day for Ford.
